The Department Student Association (HMD) is an official student organization at the department level that serves as a forum for student aspirations. In the Department of Chemical Engineering, this organization is known as the Chemical Engineering Student Association (HMTK). The existence and activities of HMTK are based on the 2022 Faculty of Engineering Student Organization Guidelines (PPO), specifically Section Five, which regulates Department Student Associations. The Department of Chemical Engineering was established on September 30, 1965. At the time of its establishment, there was no organization specifically dedicated to representing student aspirations. To address this need, the Diponegoro University Chemical Engineering Student Family (KMTK) was formed in the 1970s. Over time, several shortcomings in the KMTK system and a lack of adequate organization were identified, leading to the initiation of the formation of the Chemical Engineering Student Association (HMTK) in the 1990s. The establishment of HMTK was ratified through the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture (SK Mendikbud) Number 0457/01/1990 and the Decree of the Rector of Diponegoro University Number 041/SK/PPT09/1991. HMTK then became the official forum for Chemical Engineering students, which to this day still facilitates the expression of aspirations and personal development.
